Our Pet Policy

1. All new customers must schedule a 30 to 50 minute "meet and greet" with I Let The Dog Out, yourself and your pet. This service is free and imperative to taking on a job. Besides the expected forms, emergency contact information and such, we need to meet you pet and establish a rapport with them.
   
   
2. When scheduling a time for Pet Visits or Dog walking, please understand that there is a two hour window in which we may arrive. Factors, such as shy pets, hiding cats or an emergency may affect our time. Pets that must receive medication and inside dogs will get top priority.
   
   
3. When visiting cats we will make every attempt to make contact with them. Besides providing fresh food and water and scooping the litter box, we also play loco laser with your cat or another toy that they may enjoy. That being said, cats are fickle creatures and may not want to make an appearance during our visit. We will check all known hiding spots that you provided during our Meet and Greet.
   
   
4. We prefer not to take on clients with outdoor cats. The outdoor cat may not come when the food bowl is rattled, missing that one on one play time. Plus, they are exposed to dangers that are beyond our control. However, many 'cat people' also end up with a collection of stray cats that they feed, in addition to their own inside cats. We will put out food for your stray cats, but we accept no responsibility for making direct contact with them. Nor can we be positive that "your" strays ate the food and not a opossum.
   
   
5. During our initial Meet and Greet, we will find out where you keep your cleaning supplies. If your pet has an accident or 'throws up' while you are gone, we will make every effort to clean it up. Please make sure that adequate cleaning supplies are on hand for your type of flooring ( carpet, wood, tile). We will also leave a note for you about the incident.
   
   
6. We are still accepting personal checks. One bounced check will be charged a customery $20.00 fee that must be paid before additional services are provided. Two bounced checks will put you on a cash only basis.
   
   
7. All dogs will be kept on a leash when we are outside of your home. The only exception is if you have an actual fenced in yard, not an invisible fence. It is your responsibility to keep your fence in good repair. We cannot be held responsible for fence climbing or tunneling dogs. We will cover this during our initial meeting. If your pet does escape we will make every effort to track it down. We will inform the proper authorites if this can't be accomplished. We will also keep going back to your home until the escapee is home again. Any fees incurred will be your responsibility, i.e. Animal Control finds them first.
   
   
8. All droppings from dog walks will be properly bagged in enviomentally friendly bags and properly disposed of. The same is true for scooping litter boxes. If you leave enough litter we will dispose of the entire box and clean out the pan once a week while you are on vacation. If you would like this to be done more often, please let us know during our initial meeting.
   
   
9. We will require a house key. We do not use 'hidden' keys, which anyone can find and use. Our first priority is your pet. If someone else has used your hidden key and left it inside, we would be unable to take care of your pet. Your key, while in our care will, be labeled with a code which will mean nothing to anyone but I Let The Dogs Out. Upon confirming that you are indeed home from your vacation, we will drop off your key at your home or work place. Many people prefer their Pet Sitter to keep their key for future vacations or daily visits.
   
   
10. While most of our policy has covered cats and dogs our experience is not limited to that. We've had lizards, snakes, turtles, hamsters, gerbils, parakeets, canaries, finches and the list goes on. Call us with any questions you may have!
